The fourth meeting of the first council held at Shandong School of Development

Shandong University Shandong School of Development held the fourth meeting of the first council at Shandong University on May 18, 2012. Yuqun Han, chairman of Shandong School of Development, dean of Shandong School of Development, vice chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the National people’s Congress of China presided over the meeting. Xianming Xu, President of Shandong University, executive vice chairman of Shandong School of Development, member of Standing Committee of the National people's Congress, Geng Xia, vice governor of Shandong province, vice chairman of Shandong School of Development attended the conference and made speeches.

Xianming Xu delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting. He welcomed all to the meeting and introduced the running condition and major progress of Shandong University in recent years. He further indicated that as Jintao Hu, the General Secretary proposed the important form of collaborative innovation, Shandong School of Development should play an important role in the settlement of regional development, and provide services to the economic and social development in Shandong.

Shaoan Huang, vice chairman, executive vice dean and secretary-general of Shandong School of Development made a report on the work of Shandong School of Development. It pointed out that Shandong School of Development continues to do economic and social development research in Shandong since last council, and achieved a significant progress. Shandong School of Development strengthened foreign exchanges and cooperation, enhanced contacts and cooperation with council units. There was also an advance on the introduction of researchers and the construction of research platform. Moreover, the report stated the work plan for the latter half of this year.

Geng Xia introduced Jiangsu Provincial Research of Development’s background and process of establishment, it can be used as a reference for Shandong School of Development; School of Development should conduct a forward-looking and innovative research, and concern about the trend of world economic and social development. Geng Xia also explained the future work needs to aim at problems of insufficient development of urbanization in Shandong.

Finally, Yuqun Han appreciated all members’ coming and their suggestions. He proposed some requirements for future works: focusing on practical problems in the process of economic and social development, conduct more forward-looking research, in order to provide an intelligent support for the development in Shandong; preparing for the “mountain Tai forum”; council should further intensify their works and consolidate the research ability of each council units.
